Artist’s Statement
Dear _______, I couldn’t sleep. Somewhere in the back of my mind these things are taking shape. Something is remembered, imagined, desired, the urgency deepens and then the task of how to bring it closer, make it solid, have its presence balance my own. Strategies of construction, inventories of materials, a repertoire of processes are all set into action. And here they are: hybrids, contraptions, changelings, approximations. They shadow the realm of everyday objects. They ask the questions only objects can ask. They can move, they can’t speak, they never sleep, they are watching you.
